The chewiest sugar cookies…with sprinkles

Sometimes you just want to celebrate.

And with celebrations come sprinkles!

This recipe for chewy sugar cookies is the best version of sugar cookies I have had. They are not overly sweet, and the combination of white and brown sugars contribute to their chewy texture.

Another recipe to add to your quarantine baking repertoire? Definitely.

Birthday Confetti Sugar Cookies.

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup white, granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light, packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup rainbow sprinkles
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper, and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add in extracts and eggs, and beat well for 2 minutes. Beat in flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar until just combined. Fold in sprinkles.
  3. Take about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie, and roll into a ball. Place on cookie sheet, and repeat with all dough. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes or until centers are still soft but edges are very slightly golden. Allow to cool for 2 minutes, and enjoy 🙂
