Triple Berry Firecracker Sangria

Cheers!

No beverage beats a drink with star-shaped fruit.

This recipe will be featured on the Providence Journal this coming Wednesday, June 28, and I am super excited because three of my other favorite Fourth of July recipes will also be featured. Make all four, and you have your July 4th party set.

If you’re planning on serving this sangria at a party with both kids and adults, only add red wine to half the batch and substitute the wine with fruit punch in one half. That way, kids will not feel left out to gulp down a drink with fruit stars. And if you don’t have green apples on hand this time of year, you can of course make the stars with any melon (preferably honey dew melon) or even the rind of watermelon! Just cut the melon into about ¼” thick sheets, grab a mini star cookie cutter, and cut away. Even better, if you don’t have a star cookie cutter, (just don’t cut the fruit into stars) or purchase some star fruit – already ready for the Fourth of July!

If you’re not digging red wine, you can easily substitute with white. Although the red color will not be as noticeable, you’ll be able to see all the fruit a little bit easier. Either way, no problem.

The best part…this drink takes 10 minutes to prepare – tops.
